英文作文轉折詞與連接詞：讓組織分數變高的用法整理

- 轉折詞讓讀者知道下一句和上一句的關係：因果、對比、舉例、補充或結論。
- However、Therefore 這類副詞不能用來連接兩個句子，前面要用句號或分號。

五類最實用的轉折詞

最常見的誤用
1. 用 However、Therefore 連接兩個句子
✗I studied hard, however, I failed the test.
✓I studied hard. However, I failed the test.
However 是副詞，不是連接詞。改成句號（或分號），或直接用 but：I studied hard, but I failed the test.
2. On the other hand 沒有真的對比
✗Smartphones are useful. On the other hand, they are also convenient.
✓Smartphones are useful. On the other hand, they can be distracting.
On the other hand 用在「另一面、相反的觀點」，前後要真的有對比。
3. 用 Besides 表示轉折
✗The restaurant is cheap. Besides, the service is terrible.
✓The restaurant is cheap. However, the service is terrible.
Besides 是「而且、此外」，用來補充同方向的理由（The restaurant is cheap. Besides, the food is delicious.）；前後意思相反時要用 However 或 but。
4. 每一句都加轉折詞
First、Second、Moreover、Furthermore、In addition 一路用下去，反而顯得生硬。轉折詞是讓關係更清楚的工具，不是每句的開頭裝飾。
段落裡怎麼放轉折詞
一段 4～6 句的段落，通常 2～3 個轉折詞就夠：主題句 → 理由（because / for one thing）→ 例子（for example）→ 結果或小結（as a result / in short）。
✓Learning a second language opens many doors. For one thing, it allows us to communicate with people from other cultures. For example, I once helped a lost tourist find the MRT station in English. As a result, I realized that language is a bridge rather than a school subject.
